What You Should Know About Dental Emergencies

Posted .

What have you heard about dental emergencies? Do you know which emergencies need to be addressed as soon as possible? Similarly, do you know what you might want to put in an at home dental kit? Regardless of your situation, you should contact our dentist as soon as you possibly can. Still, there are several things you might be able to do to deal with your emergency until you can visit our office.

For instance, would you be surprised to hear that losing a tooth is actually an emergency? If you lose a tooth, or if one of your teeth is dislodged, we recommend contacting our dentist as soon as you can. In reality, if you can visit our team fast enough, we may be able to restore your tooth. Of course, it’s important that you bring your pearly white with you when you come to our office. We generally suggest bringing the tooth in a glass of milk. You should also avoid handling the dislodged tooth by the root.

If a tooth breaks, you should meet with us as soon as you can. If a piece of a tooth breaks, please gather all of the pieces you can find. However, having a chipped tooth is not as serious as cracking or fracturing a tooth. Again, it’s important to gather the pieces of your chipped tooth and set up an appointment with us at your earliest convenience.

Lastly, if you’re interested in being prepared for an emergency, we recommend keeping gauze, and a cold compress.
