How Dental Can Veneers Help You

Posted .

Have you ever heard of dental veneers? As you may know, these shells are fused to your mouth to give you a healthy, attractive smile. In fact, dentures can be used to correct crooked teeth, to whiten your smile, or to close small gaps in your mouth. Similarly, veneers are stain resistant and durable—but there are still things you can consider doing to extend the life of your veneers. In fact, if you care for your veneers well, they could last for up to 15 years.

As you’ve probably guessed, you should brush and floss every day. However, please remember to brush for two minutes at a time twice a day. Similarly, you should consider using a non-abrasive toothpaste. For instance, you may want to consider using a toothpaste designed for individuals with sensitive teeth.

It’s also important that you remember to not misuse your teeth. In other words, please don’t bite down on ice, metal, your nails, or pens. Chewing on these items could chip your teeth or crack your veneers. If this happens to you, you’ll need to have your old veneers removed and have new veneers placed. Similarly, please be mindful of the effect certain drinks, such as alcohol and soda, can have on your veneers.

You’ll also need to visit our dentists once every six months. To learn more about the care you can receive from us, or about what you can do for your veneers, please don’t hesitate to give Solomon & Wright Associates, P.C. a call at 781-665-5222.
